Virginia Tech Is Paving The Way For Senior Commencements
I think we can all feel for the class of 2020 in this pandemic. Think back to your senior year of High School and College. There is so much excitement surrounding graduation but also so much uncertainty in a normal environment, I can only imagine the disappointment current seniors are feeling not be able to “walk the stage”.
That is why I think it is so cool that my husband’s alma mater, Virginia Tech University is finding a way to make sure their seniors still feel special during this special time!
On Friday, May 15th at 6:30 pm Hokie nation will be able to support college seniors in a virtual graduation and commencement ceremony. The ceremony will be available on vt.edu and will be viewable on-demand afterward as well. The inspirational message will be delivered by VT alumni Miss America 2020 Camille Schrier, legendary defensive coordinator Bud Foster, and world-renowned poet Nikki Giovanni.
It will be a one of a kind milestone for both the students and the university and will also allow Alumni to get involved by submitting a 10-20 second video with words of advice for the Class of 2020 by emailing [email protected].
Sure it’s not exactly what seniors were envisioning but it is sure to give them the feeling of celebration and accomplishment they deserve!
