My First Time Doing A Juice Cleanse and I’m Hooked!
I’ve drank juices for years, but have never actually done a “juice cleanse.” I have always wanted to but I love food so much. I’ve tried just about every diet: paleo, vegan, pescatarian, vegetarian, keto…I’ve done Whole 30. Whatever I’ve watched a documentary on, I’ve tried it. Just to see how my body feels, you know?
I was so pleasantly surprised by my one day juice. I chose to do a one-day juice cleanse from “Juice Bar” in Plaza Midwood. I got six juices that were to be consumed throughout one day. I was SO nervous about it.. turns out, it was one of my favorite things ever. Now…first things first…if you want to try a juice cleanse, make sure it’s for the right reasons. Even though cleanses promote weight loss – it’s not intended for that. I did it as a “reset.” With all of the processed foods we eat, and with the alcohol I consume, sometimes your body just feels “blah” ya know? So my goal for the juice cleanse was to make my insides happy and kick start a healthier lifestyle.
Here are some of the benefits of juice cleanses:
- resets your palate
- encourages weight loss
- helps digestion
- helps reduce cell damage
- less stress on your heart
- immune boosting
- good for gut health
- packed with antioxidants
The Juice Bar also offers a “juice until dinner” option, where they give you four juices, alkaline water, and a healthy kale/quinoa dinner. I believe this is what I’m going to do next month! Around lunch/dinner time yesterday I thought I was going to lose my mind. I wasn’t hungry…I wasn’t feeling bad, I just am so used to eating, and sometimes over-eating that I just wanted food for the heck of it. Each juice I had was DELICIOUS. There are more intense juice cleanses like 3-day but I think for a while I’m going to stick to one day / juice until dinner cleanses!
