Local Teacher Reads To Children On YouTube And You Can Watch
Local teachers may be sad that they won’t see their students until at least May 15, but some educators are making sure their pupils know that they haven’t forgotten about them. Lisa Fedell is one of those instructors. Mrs. Fedell is a Literacy Facilitator at Greenway Park Elementry School here in Charlotte and she has taken to Youtube to touch her school’s children at home.
Mrs. Fedell said she started recording herself reading children’s books as an example for her school’s teacher assistants on how to support lead teachers in the classroom. However, in the mists of Covid19 and children being home from school, some of Mrs. Fedell’s mom friends started asking for ideas to keep their kids busy during this confusing time.
That’s when Mrs. Fedell decided to make this a weekly thing. She says, “even seven minutes of reading aloud will make a difference.”
