Publix Announces Specific Hours For Senior Shoppers Only During Coronavirus Outbreak
Publix has already cut their daily hours, closing stores at 8 pm, to allow employees time to restock and sanitize stores, but now they are adding a new schedule specifically to serve their senior customers.
Publix Super Markets has blocked off two hours per week for seniors to do their grocery shopping during the coronavirus outbreak. They will designate 7 am to 8 am on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings as senior shopping hours for shoppers 65 and older. They have also decided to open their pharmacy at 7 am on those days to serve seniors as well. This change in hours will begin Tuesday, March 24, and continue until further notice.
Those that are 65 and older are considered high risk for severe illness during the outbreak, according to the CDC, so with the new restricted shopping hours, seniors’ will be less exposed to people who may be carriers of the virus and will also protect them from the potential dangers of panic buying.
