Outdoor Classrooms To Help Stop Covid? One NC District Is Considering It
With the continued uptick in COVID-19 cases one North Carolina School district is thinking outside the box, or should I say outside the school. That’s right Durham County Schools is considering outdoor classrooms to help curb the spread of COVID-19. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, a quarter of all new cases of the virus are among children. This could be a result of schools starting or the fact that with a lot of adults being vaccinated the virus is moving to children. Regardless of the cause, it has the district evaluating outdoor learning spaces.
The outdoor learning spaces were proposed by a company called Hobbs Architects. The goal would be to use them while COVID-19 remains an issue but also well after. They believe they can construct the spaces in a way to keep children protected from the elements. This is certainly an idea that would hopefully fair better than online learning.
