LauRen And Dallas Tried Volo Ristorante
While everyone was busy freaking out over Snow-mageddon yesterday, I took the event as an opportunity. For months, I have been trying to get into the new Italian restaurant, Volo Ristorante in Myers Park. It’s a cute little 25 top restaurant, but good luck getting in there if you don’t have a reservation.
With all the hype around this place and after seeing the menu online, I was stoked to see that they had a last-minute cancellation that was available on RESY because of the weather. My husband and I are both originally from Pittsburgh PA, where a little snow never shut anything down, so we thought we’d venture out in the cold to try this new eatery.
We were greeted by live music and drinks first. Although they do not have a “mocktail” menu they were very accommodating when I asked for a “virgin” rendition of their cucumber cocktail. It was delicious and came complete with a pasta straw which I loved. Dallas started with a Dirty Martini (with blue cheese stuffed olives, of course) then moved onto a Smoked Old Fashion.
For apps, we split the Capesante Scallops and Sarda Salad and then dined on the Nero and House Special for our entries. The Nero was full of flavor, but the special paled in comparison and in both dishes pasta was a little overdone. In Italian dishes, pasta should be served a little al dente.
Dessert and coffee after dinner is typically a must for us and we requested an Americano for Dallas which was bright and strong, along with the Tiramisu and Cannoli to share. Both were good, but I preferred the Tiramisu.
All in all, a great new restaurant but the top spots for me, still go to Luce and Indaco. I have also heard great things about Osteria Luca and Capishe Kitchen which I’m excited to try next.
