How To Avoid The Post-Super Bowl Hangover
Are you one of the estimated 17.2-million workers that called out “sick” today, no one believes you. Here’s some advice on how you can avoid “Super Sick Monday” and skip the hangover next Super Bowl Sunday.
- Don’t Drink. Duh. The best way to avoid the not so fun consequences of drinking is to cut out the drinking altogether. But since that’s not gonna happen
- Hydrate. The rule of thumb to live by is booze, water, repeat. If you can go back and forth between alcohol and H20 you may be spending more time in the bathroom that night, but less time there in the morning.
- No Magic Cure. Despite what your hardiest drinking college buddies have told you there is no magic cure to a hangover. There are just a few foods that make them less horrific. For example, eggs contain the amino acid cysteine that can help break down booze’s bad byproducts and the B vitamins in them help, too. Throw in a banana to bring your potassium levels back to normal and you just might be able to function at work.
- Meat. A recent study showed people with lower levels of vitamin B23 and zinc suffered worse hangovers. Looking at you vegans. These are both found in meat. So unless you’ve been keeping up on your multivitamins, you may want to add some chicken tenders to your Super Bowl app spread.
