Hotel Patron Catches Elephant Roaming Around Hotel
Sri Lanka is an island country in South Asia and a video from a guest at one Sri Lankan hotel has gone viral due to an unusual visitor. The unusual visitor? An elephant!
woke up to a text from my mom about how a wild elephant went into a Sri Lankan hotel and gently wandered around while poking stuff with his trunk pic.twitter.com/C2biQT8C30

The video emerged from a guest at the Jetwing Yala hotel, in the south-east of the country, showing a full-grown Asian bull elephant named Natta Kota, or short tail, roaming around the hotel. He’s apparently been “the hotel’s most loyal patron” since 2013 according to hotel staff. The elephant showed up a few years ago and was allowed to remain in peace and now spends his days sleeping in the shade of the scrubs and taking walks along the hotel’s footpaths. The most trouble he causes? Stealing fruit from cars & food supplies from the kitchen! If you stay at that hotel you are warned as a guest to keep an eye on your fruit!
When I visited Thailand I got the opportunity to visit a humane elephant sanctuary. Check some of the footage below:
It’s super long and not really important but I did document my trip if you’re interested in seeing how it went! If anything it’s got some good music you can play in the background!
