Astrophysicist Claims to Have Invented a Time Machine
This is awesome! If you’re like me you live in the past. I love sharing stories with my friends that start with “remember when.” Now my friends and I finally can say remember when and then we can go and actually relive it!
Professor Ron Mallett from the University of Connecticut claims to have written a scientific equation that could be used to create a device that takes people back in time. There are a lot of moving parts and it’s kinda too complicated for me, but…His machine is based around Albert Einstein’s theory of special relativity, which says that time accelerates or decelerates according to the speed at which an object is moving.
For example, if you were on a spacecraft traveling at the speed of light then the theory suggests time would be moving slower for you than people back on Earth.
If you were then to return to Earth having traveled in space for less than a week at this speed, Einstein theorizes that 10 years would have passed on Earth while you were gone. Get it? I don’t either haha. I’d go back to 1996 when I started working at Z100 NY and lived at my Summer house in the Jersey Shore, or 1988 when I had no cares in the world, and the music was awesome!
