Sugar Free Reese’s vs Original Reese’s Cup Review

My mom is a diabetic and I remember as a kid I was always trying to find her fun candies that had 0 sugar. Typically you would be stuck with the same candy box from Whitman’s Candy or Russel Stover with their sugar free lines but while I was at the store I noticed a Sugar Free Reeses!
I wanted to see if there was much difference between the sugar free line and the original line. So I bought both and put them to the test.
The initial visual observation of the sugar free reeses is similar to the original. The texture is the same, color is the same, however the smell is slightly different. It’s almost as if you can smell the sugar substitute. It has a “chemical” like smell masked by chocolate and peanut butter undertones.
Upon biting into the sugar free treat, you immediately tell its a bit drier than the soft, milky original Reeses. The weird smell is quickly replaced with the similar taste you’ve always remembered.
Some complaints online show that after eating it, there is a strange chemical after taste however I didn’t taste any of that.
Bottom line: If you’re looking for a sugar free option, and don’t mind it being a bit drier with a slightly stranger smell, this tastes just as good as the original.
