Cardi B Becomes First Woman Rapper To Reach 1 Billion Youtube Views With ‘I like It ‘ Video
Rapper Cardi B has recently made Youtube history. The “Money” artist has become the first woman rapper to reach 1 billion Youtube views via her video for the rapper’s single “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny & J Balvin, as That Grape Juice reports.
Last year, the J. White Did It-produced track made the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also became the longest-running song by a woman rapper to stay on the Hot 100 (51 weeks total).
Cardi’s “I Like It” is also certified 7x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Technically, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper has accomplished this historical milestone twice due to Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” and DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki,” both of which featured Cardi B, reached the billion views point. However, this is Cardi’s first time hitting 1 billion Youtube views with her own song.
Cardi B’s nemesis Nicki Minaj is featured in several videos that have surpassed the 1 billion views threshold including Jason Derulo’s “Swalla,” Ariana Grande’s “Side to Side,” David Guetta’s “Hey Mama,” and Jessie J’s “Bang Bang.” However, none of the videos for Minaj’s own singles have hit a billion views. During the time that Cardi B’s milestone was reported on, Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” video had reached 884 million views.
