Hiker Scares Off Stalking Cougar By Playing Metallica
Who knew Metallica was a survival skill?
A Canadian woman, Dee Gallant, was hiking with her dog, Murphy, in the wilderness of Vancouver Island, Canada when she saw a cougar lurking.
You can see in the video below that she was trying to yell to scare it and even seemed to try and hiss to see if it would leave her alone but you can watch it stalking.
When the yelling didn’t work she writes in her YouTube video description that she started to play music on her iPhone and that’s when the cougar finally decided to leave her alone. Her musical choice? “Don’t Tread On Me” by Metallica because it’s loud and she says that was the message she wanted the cougar to get.
It worked! The cougar left her alone. Dee Gallant later joked that she would love to tell James Hetfield, the band’s lead singer, himself. Well…the power of the Internet! She got a call from him later!
See the selfie he sent her & read the full story here.
