Shawn Mendes Drops His Third Number One Album
Shawn’s self titled album now makes him one of the youngest artists to have three albums hit number one on the “Billboard” Top 200 Album chart… is this the peak of his career?
After his debut in 2015, the vine star has taken his talent to another level. Shawn’s third studio album moved 182,000 equivalent album units in its first week to debut on top the “Billboard” 200 Album chart. This will be his third number one album following the success of 2015’s “Handwritten” and 2017’s “Illuminate,” making him the third-youngest artist to have three albums hit number one, following Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. Sounds like three might be Shawn’s lucky number.
“Shawn Mendes: The Album” is now surpassing his previous 2015 album “Illuminate,” which debuted with 145,000 album units, and it’s also the second-biggest sales week for a pop album this year and the fifth-biggest sales week of 2018 overall.
The humble 19-year-old star is already making a name for himself early in his career. Will his streak end, or can we expect more number one albums from him in the future?
