Why Are Women Marrying Trees?

Yes, it’s true, women in Mexico have started the “Marry A Tree” movement but the reason why might surprise you.

Dating can go horribly wrong and cause some people to want to be single forever, but that’s not why these women in Mexico are marrying trees. The women who started this trend are activists who are trying to raise awareness for illegal logging. Illegal logging is also known as “clearing the land” and it’s happening in San Jacinto Amilpas, Mexico.

The “Marry A Tree” ceremonies are meant to honor and protect the environment.
