Eat Like An Olympian
Ever wondered what these athletes put in their bodies?
Olympians gave us a rundown of their breakfast of champions. First thing on the menu… eggs. For bobsledder Aja Evans, her morning is filled with eggs. She even goes to the extent of adding in extra goodies like tomatoes, green peppers and onions. Add a side of berries or some sweet potato hash and you will be energized for the day.
Women’s hockey player Alex Rigsby claims oatmeal gives her the one-two punch of carbohydrate and protein she needs. She pairs it with a green drink that is comprised of different greens with some ginger and turmeric.
As a 17-year-old, Chloe Kim is a fan of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. As a gold medalist, she could step it up some. The cereal contains more than two teaspoons’ worth of added sugars.
But the one passion most Olympic athletes have is peanut butter. It has eight grams of protein and aids with muscle growth, provides vitamin E and other beneficial nutrients. That’s why so many of our athletes wake up with some form of peanut butter. Bottom line, eat more peanut butter.
The one guilty pleasure most would be happy to see. Coffee. It’s a part of every Olympian athletes morning routine and a recent study found you can chug it every day and still get those perks.
The last super food these athletes recommend are avocados. They contain heart-healthy fats, fiber and over 20 vitamins and minerals. Skier Bryan Fletcher eats his on top of whole wheat toast with eggs over easy and Sriracha sauce.
