We’re Not Sure How We Feel About This Walmart News
There’s a new delivery service being offered at Walmart that promises to ease the burden of grocery shopping for busy individuals.
According to WISN12, Walmart has launched a test program that if successful, may mean you never have to step foot in a grocery store again.
The program is currently only offered on a micro level, but the company could roll the new delivery service out nation-wide.
Rather than just ordering your groceries online, the new delivery service takes it one step further.
A delivery person will drive the goods to your door, enter your home, and stock your fridge for you.
For homeowners who have internet-connected locks in California’s Silicon Valley, they simply provide the delivery man with a one time entry code to get inside their home.
Once inside, the delivery person puts all the groceries away, and then exits the home.
An alert is sent to the homeowner’s phone when the delivery person has arrived.
Here are the pros and cons of the test service:
Pros:
- The new service will make your life a lot easier
- You’ll never have to unpack or put your groceries away again
- You won’t have to worry about forgetting to purchase something while at the store
- You can avoid crowded stores and long lines
- You won’t spend extra money on non-list items while at the store
Cons:
- You’re letting a stranger into your home
- You can’t check the expiration dates of the items being delivered like you can at the store
- Your items might not be put away in an organized fashion, or in the spot you would normally put them
So perhaps the pros outweigh the cons in this situation, but in the end it comes down to personal preference.
Would you try Walmart’s new delivery service if it becomes available in your area?
