Lexi’s Listens is a new weekly post I’ll do with the songs I’ve been singing to nonstop! My hope is that if you’ve never heard of these, you might discover some new hits to listen to.
New In Dance Pop
This week, we’ve got a great mix of genres!! To start off the list I’ve got two dance-pop/bedroom pop songs that I absolutely love. First, from emerging artist Maude Latour, who is currently a student at Columbia, we have “One More Weekend” which I personally think is about to blow up on Top 40. So, if you listen today, you can say I knew her before everyone else did! The other song is one my friend showed me, it’s a light happy bedroom pop sound that makes you smile. Indigo’s sound is a lot like boy pablo’s, if you listen to him. Check out Indigo’s song Slow Dance below!
Fingerprints is a song from artists at Van Buren Records out of Massachusetts. This emerging artist collective started from a group of long-time friends. To me, their song Fingerprints gives the same vibe as some Jack Harlow songs. I definitely prefer some artists’ voices over others within this song. I love the verse that starts around 1:13. Check it out at #3.
WARNING: Michael Nau’s No Quit is extremely vibey!! You WILL want to dance (or at least sway) when you hear this one. It has vibes of an older beach song almost, like Seal and Croft’s Summer Breeze. But it also has psychedelic elements that bring more groove. This song is unique because of that and it quickly became a favorite of mine. Check it out at #4.
Of course, we also have to have the throwbacks of the week. One is Madcon’s Don’t Worry which came out back in 2015. It’s one of those songs that I’ve heard before and liked, but I never knew the name of it, so in a way, I feel like I’m rediscovering it for the first time! The other is a song from Childish Gambino’s Camp album. Heartbeat will always be a classic. Check those out at the bottom of the list today.
