Lexi’s Listens is a new weekly post I’ll do with the songs I’ve been singing to nonstop! My hope is that if you’ve never heard of these, you might discover some new hits to listen to.
New Songs
Today, I have six songs to share with you. Two of them are pretty new, so make sure to check these out for sure, since you’ll probably fall in love with them like I did. One of them, Labrinth’s Forever from the Euphoria soundtrack, you probably know already. It’s been all over TikTok, but I’m definitely not sick of it yet!! That whole album is absolute gold. The other is a song called Lil Thing. It’s groovy and makes you want to dance, but I’m not exactly sure what its genre would be considered. Coming-of-Age Songs
I’ve realized that I tend to gravitate towards music that sounds like it should be on a coming-of-age movie soundtrack. Like Lorde’s Perfect Places is one of my all-time favorites…and if you don’t know that one super well, go look up the lyrics, it’s a totally typical coming-of-age song. Like that song, I’ve been listening to two songs this week that always remind me of growing up…or maybe the way you used to live in the moment more when you were 19? MGMT’s Kids and Current Joys’ New Flesh do that for me. Close your eyes when you listen to those.
Throwbacks
Two absolute throwbacks I’ve been re-obsessed with recently are Capsize and She Looks So Perfect. I remember when Frenship came to App State to perform, but I couldn’t go to the show for one reason or another…It must have been sold out. Either way, I was so bummed!! Honestly, though, I’ve never been a big boy band girl. I never got too into One Direction or 5SOS, buttttttt She Looks So Perfect got randomly stuck in my head this week, and it’s catchy man!
