Dishin’ With Debbie-Cinnamon Sugar Pierogies with Pumpkin Pie Dip
Ah, it’s Fall. And, some things just naturally go together. There’s bonfires and s’mores, fuzzy sweaters and hot cocoa and pierogies with pumpkin pie dip. Wait, what? Yes, I was just as surprised as you are when I ran across the recipe on the Mrs. T’s Pierogies website. For this week’s edition of Dishin’ With Debbie, I searched for something different. And, I certainly found it.
So, just stay with me a minute. Mixing savory and sweet is not anything new. We love a spicy breaded piece of fried chicken with a sweet waffle topped with honey. And, folks at the state fair mix doughnuts and burgers. Well, why not the savory, pillowy pasta pocket stuffed with fluffy whipped potatoes and cheese used as a dipper for this delicious pumpkin pie dip?
Mrs. T’s Pierogies get sauteed in butter and tossed in a mix of cinnamon and sugar for this Dishin’ With Debbie. Then, you plunge them into a decadent mix of pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, pumpkin spices, cream cheese and whipped topping. The tanginess of the cream cheese pairs just right to cut through some of the sweetness of the dish. And, the Mrs. T’s Pierogies get crisp and buttery. I know it sounds unusual, but just try it! You’ll love it. But, whatever you decide to try Mrs. T’s Piergogies with just make sure you try them. Remember to pick up a blue box in the freezer section of your favorite grocery store. Mrs. T’s Pierogies come in multiple varieties of fillings in regular and mini sizes.
