Dove Is Moving To 100% Recycled Plastic Bottles
Dove is helping recycling efforts by promising to use 100 percent recycled plastic bottles for their products. In a press release, they say that cutting back on plastic waste will reduce the manufacturing of more than 20,500 tons of virgin plastic per year. “If current rates continue, 12 billion tonnes will be in landfill or our natural environment by 2050.”
They also point out that the amount of plastic they will be saving each year “would be enough to circle the Earth 2.7 times.”
The company will transition to plastic bottles for Dove, DoveMen+Care, and Baby Dove, they will have plastic-free packaging for Dove Beauty Bar by 2020, and they are creating a reusable and refillable stainless steel stick for Dove deodorant.
For now, these changes are happening in North American and Europe. For other parts of the world, Dove explains that they will “continue to research for solutions where recycled plastic where recycled plastic is not currently technically feasible.”
