Eminem’s Daughter Gets Emotional Listening to Dad’s Album
Eminem’s daughter has, of course, heard the rapper’s entire new album, and she had quite an emotional reaction to the new tunes. Hailie Jade Scott, Eminem’s daughter with ex-wife Kim Scott, spoke about listening to the set on the Aug. 23 episode of her Just a Little Shady podcast. During the conversation, she said that song of the songs on The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) made her tear up.

When talking about the music video for “Somebody Save Me” with Jelly Roll, Hailie said to her co-host Brittany Ednie, “I watched it in [its] entirety, and I don’t think I can do it again. I definitely cry every time I hear it at all. And actually, Brittany put the little commercial snippet on today and I was like, ‘Can you turn that down? Like, are you trying to make me cry?'”
In the song “Somebody Save Me,” Eminem talks about his battles with addiction. He raps a verse for Hailie in the song, so it’s no wonder that she teared up listening to it. In the song, he says things like, “Hailie, I’m so sorry. I know I wasn’t there for your first guitar recital” and that he “missed the birth of your first child.” He also says, “I’m so proud of how you turned out.”
Eminem also wrote the song “Temporary” featuring Skylar Grey for Hailie, and the song actually has audio of her as a baby.
“I mean, I can’t,” she said of listening to both songs. “I audibly sobbed, I think, for both songs, but especially ‘Temporary.'”
She added, “But I will say, watching the video back and listening to the songs, I feel like my parents did such a good job growing up. Where I didn’t realize how bad things were, but now, as an adult in hindsight, it’s so scary to think about.”
She also said she tears up while listening to the track because it gets her thinking about what “could have happened.”
“And obviously that’s the point of the song,” she added. “But I just I will say, if you’ve ever lost an addict or loved one, I feel for you, and, yeah, that’s how I feel about it.”
Eminem’s Daughter Reacts to Childhood Footage Used in Music Video
Eminem’s video for the song “Somebody Save Me” actually has footage of Hailie and her sisters during their childhood.
“It’s a great video and it’s fun to see clips of us when we were younger like that, even ‘Mockingbird,’ but I can’t even listen to that anymore without crying,” Hailie said.
