South Carolina Deer Hunter Finds Missing 2-Year-Old Girl In The Woods
A deer hunter in Newberry, South Carolina, played a pivotal role in reuniting a missing two-year-old with her family. The toddler had gone missing around 3pm this past Sunday in a rural area west of Columbia, South Carolina, according to WYFF4. Around 6pm, the hunter heard the young girl’s cries and immediately dialed 911 for help.
When hunters aren’t actually hunting, there are many other activities that they might engage in while out in the woods. One common activity is scouting, where hunters will search for signs of game in the area, such as tracks, droppings, or other indicators. This can help them plan their next hunting trip and increase their chances of success, it obviously makes them great at finding small children in the woods as well!
Law enforcement was able to use mapping technology to pinpoint their location and dispatched a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division helicopter and first responders to the scene. A search team located the hunter and the missing child in a wooded area about a mile from her family’s home.
But was she okay?
The little girl was found to be in surprisingly good condition, she was however tired, thirsty, and frightened. The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office later took to social media to thank all those involved in the “miraculous find” of the missing girl.
Overall, there are many different things that hunters might do in the woods when they aren’t actively hunting. Whether they are scouting for game, exploring the wilderness, or finding small children we are thankful this story had a happy ending!
South Carolina isn’t just great for hunting it is also great for retirement!
