BGFC Film Camp Opens Applications November 30th
First off Black Girls Film Camp (BGFC) is at no cost to parents, and once the young film-make-hers are chosen, they receive equipment and software to create their individual films. BGFC has creative coaches, mentors, and high-profile film make-hers pour into the young ladies. Everything about these camps is done with integrity and sophistication. Back in October for the second year in a row, the young ladies from the 2021 -22 cohorts entered films in the 45th annual Mill Valley Film Festival. Once the young film make-hers create their first film, their film careers take off in different ways. They take on projects to enlighten their communities and networks. Your daughter can apply for the BGFC this year on November 30th.
It would be so much fun and educational for your daughters to experience and create a film from start to finish. Dr. Jimmeka Anderson is the Creator, Co-Founder, and Executive Director of BGFC. Sierra Davis is Co-Founder, Finance & Operations Director, and they both have great insight. You might have caught a glimpse of TV interviews, like on Good Morning America 3. The national 12-week camp is virtual but builds a bond with other filmmakers to grow networks across the map. Hope to see you attending in person or virtually for the 2023 showcase.
