Sweating Healthy?
With temperatures hitting the high 90’s we’ve all been hot and sweaty, and yes your sweat is 99% water with small amounts of salt, proteins, carbohydrates and urea. Urea is colorless a crystalline compound which is the main nitrogenous breakdown product of protein metabolism in mammals and is excreted in urine. The most interesting thing about sweat is that, we cannot sweat toxins out of the body. A few minutes after your workout it’s best to get that sweat off because you’re preventing pores from getting clogged. Leaving sweat on your face after exercising can cause irritation and dehydration because sweat contains that salt mentioned.
The great news is that sweating daily is healthy for us after a workout. There’s research saying that sweating is beneficial to our healthy lifestyle and can boost mood. I was shocked to learn that sweating doesn’t burn fat, it’s the cooling process has something to do with that. I sourced the Mayo Clinic for some of my information and found that some people are born with a sweating disorder called, Hyperhidrosis. It’s a medical condition that some people sweat excessively at any given moment. People with hyperhidrosis may sweat even when the temperature is cool or when they are at rest. Remedies are Botox if you can afford the expensive cost, but there’s a list of other prescription antiperspirants your doctor may suggest, including creams that contains glycopyrrolate, nerve blockers or even antidepressants.
