Tower of Terror Movie

Disney's attempts to make rides based on classic attractions have always been a little or hit or miss. Pirates of The Caribben being by far the most successful. The Haunted Mansion screenplay, however, doesn't have the same appeal as its beloved namesake. But they still keep trying. The newest attempt? Tower of Terror. Scarlett Johansson is set to produce and star in a new 'Tower of Terror' movie for Disney. Tower of Terror is of course the drop ride themed off The Twilight Zone. While the Disneyland version has been rethemed the Orlando ride was still going strong when I was there a few years ago. The incredible, immersive theming has made it one of my all-time favorite rides anywhere.

While I'm very excited for this new movie, I have to give a shoutout to the OG Tower of Terror movie that seems to be long forgotten. The 1997 movie went straight to video if I remember correctly, and was a staple in my Friday night Blockbuster rotations. I know I know. I haven't seen the movie in years, it's strangely absent from the Disney+ lineup, but as a child still working up the courage for the ride I loved it. That being said it was a far cry from being a "hit" so maybe this new adaptation will be more successful.

There is no word yet on who else will star and work on the film or a potential release date. But if you love Disney rides and can't wait for this one, The Jungle Cruise starring The Rock will be out later this summer. I don't know that I love these types of movies as they seem forced to me, but if they can

keep the rides relevant and safe from being rethemed I'm all for it. Especially when that involves a ride I love as much as Tower of Terror.
