Burger King Under Fire For Tweeting ‘Women Belong In The Kitchen’
It’s International Women’s Day, and Burger King is in trouble for a tweet they sent that might be rubbing a lot of women the right way.
The brand’s UK Twitter account sent out a tweet that said, “Women belong in the kitchen.”

Burger King then started a thread to explain what that tweet meant. They said, “If they want to, of course. Yet only 20% of chefs are women. We’re on a mission to change the gender ratio in the restaurant industry by empowering female employees with the opportunity to pursue a culinary career. #IWD.”
They added, “We are proud to be launching a new scholarship programme which will help female Burger King employees pursue their culinary dreams!”

Of course, even after they explained why they sent the tweet, it was too late. Many attacked the fast-food franchise for their tone-deaf tweet.
