Country Music Awards
The Country Music Awards aired on ABC on Wednesday Night. The Headline leading up to the event was Miranda Lambert’s record breaking 7 nominations but there were several underlying stories as well. From Carrie’s wink, to Dirk Bentley’s fiddler Dan Hochhalters bow strings snapping on live TV the CMA awards was nothing short of entertaining. However, the highlight of the night was when the CMA honored legends Joe Diffie, Charlie Daniels, and Kenny Rogers.
Kenny Rogers has revolutionized country music for over five decades. Lionel Ritchie who had a very special relationship with Kenny Rogers, wrote the 1979 Hit “Lady” which to this day is still one of the most recognizable songs in the world. However, much of Kenny Rogers’ music library is familiar to audiences young, and old. So when Little Big Town took the stage, and started belting out “Sweet Music Man”, not only did we sing along, but even teen and tween were joining in, and that’s the beauty of Kenny Rogers music. It transcended all culture, ethnic, and music backgrounds. Rest in peace Kenny. You held them, folded them, and now you can walk away a legend in country music
