Should Minorities Trust Flu Shots?
You have to go back a few years or poke your head up out of the sand to understand the mistrust African Americans and Hispanics have pertaining to big pharma. Add a few big pharma money rats at the top and you’ve got proof that minorities shouldn’t trust the words that come from these organizations, mouths. Why? Let’s start with the barriers to researching cures pertaining to minorities. You might think these scientist can work on cures for breast cancer, etc. for African Americans, but they can only do what the fatty rats present to them, and normally it’s not prolonging the life of minorities.
Is that some diabolical plan? Maybe, if you google Tuskegee Syphilis Study, also known as the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in African American Males, you’ll see that the study initially involved 600 black men. A headcount of 399 with syphilis, 201 who did not have the disease, and this monstrosity that physicians conducted was without telling patients the truth. They were being treated for “bad blood,” a term used to describe several ailments, including syphilis, anemia, and fatigue. Long story short these men didn’t receive the proper treatment needed to help/cure their illness. Check this out, in exchange for taking part in the study, the men received free medical exams, free meals, and burial insurance. So, with that said, the kicker is, the study was to last 6 months, but actually went on for 40 years.
The moral to this story is, it’s hard to trust the medical community especially when your racial biases are in full effect. Medical community could you please start treating minorities with dignity?
