Lungs & COVID-19
As COVID-19 is becoming affecting more people, we’re more interested in our lung health, and the American Lung Association’s top priority is the public’s health and well-being. As more and more states grapple with how to slowly reopen, we are seeing an uptick in the spread of misinformation around COVID-19. COVID-19 is a lung infection, and those with chronic medical conditions are more susceptible to severe symptoms of COVID-19. The American Lung Association has started a COVID-19 Action Initiative to bring together public and private entities to end COVID-19 and prepare for future respiratory pandemics.
Lung disease refers to disorders that affect the lungs, the organs that allow us to breathe. Breathing problems caused by lung disease may prevent the body from getting enough oxygen. Examples of lung diseases are: Asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Most chest infection symptoms typically go away within 7 to 10 days, although a cough can last up to three weeks. See your doctor if your symptoms haven’t improved or have gotten worse in this time,
