Michael Jordan Pledges To Donate $1 Million To Hurricane Dorian Relief In The Bahamas
NBA legend Michael Jordan recently pledged to donate $1million to Hurricane Dorian relief efforts in The Bahamas, as CBS News reports.
On Tuesday (Sept. 10), the former Chicago Bulls star made the announcement. “I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently,” Jordan said in a statement, shared on Twitter by his spokeswoman and manager, Estee Portnoy. “My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and those who have lost loved ones.”

Jordan stated that he will continue to keep an eye on what’s transpiring in The Bahamas and will choose non-profits where his donation will have the most impact. Jordan has assisted in other hurricane relief efforts. Last year, Jordan gave a major donation to relief efforts after Hurricane Florence hit his home state of North Carolina.
The iconic NBA star surprised Wilmington residents by giving them Thanksgiving food and shoes, as CBS Chicago reported. Jordan also spearheaded a relief box effort where he had team members of the Charlotte Hornets, which he owns, fill up boxes that were shipped to parts of the city that were affected by the storms. Michael Jordan has also donated a total of $2 million to the Red Cross and the Foundation for the Carolinas’ Hurricane Florence Response Fund.
