Signs Posted Around Charlotte To Help Prevent Suicides
As a general rule, I like to keep things on the lighter side, that’s just my personality. But I feel this topic is important so I thought this was worthy of mentioning.
Suicide rates in our country are rising, especially with young people. It’s disturbing and sad, but it’s the reality we live in. Unfortunately, I’ve been down that dark hole, and I’m lucky to have made it out alive. I don’t want to get into too much detail, but I truly do know that feeling of being all alone. I understand that feeling that there is no hope. It’s not a good feeling, but you CAN get past it. There IS hope!
Charlotte has decided to make sure that people know they are not alone. Local organizations in the Charlotte area are posting signs with the Suicide Prevention Lifeline on them. The signs have been seen in parking decks, and in other popular locations in uptown. Leaders are hoping that these signs will help those that are in need.
You don’t always know what someone is going through. A friend or co-worker can seem like the most confident, put together person, with a great life ahead of them, but they may be fighting demons. You just never know. And it’s just heartbreaking that so many young people feel there’s no way out or no escape.
There is always help! ALWAYS! The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides help 24/7. It’s free and confidential support for people in distress. If you, or someone you know needs help or just needs to talk, the number is 1-800-273-8255.
There is always hope. Stay strong!
