Climbing Stone Mountain
There are a few fabulous places in North Carolina to hike and Stone Mountain in one of them, in fact, my daughter and I chose to scale a little history on Stone Mountain.
It’s primarily composed of quartz monzonite and the dome of Stone Mountain was created during the formation of the Blue Ridge Mountains around 300 to 350 million years ago.
Some may refer or know of Stone Mountain as being a part of the Appalachian Mountains. If you plan to hike up Stone Mountain please drink the required amount of water as we did, but still got parched during the trek.
Most professional hikers recommend about 1/2 liter of water per hour per adult and children should drink 1 to 2 cups of water for every hour they’re hiking with parents. The fun-filled and exhausting trip took us 5 hours total to climb, but so worth it.
