Starbucks Barista Tries Caffeine-Shaming Pregnant Woman
Tisk tisk.
I’ve heard some crazy things, but this is just wrong.
A male Starbucks Barista tried to stop a pregnant woman from buying a Caramel Macchiato because it has caffeine and she was pregnant. He started by asking her if the drink was for her and she said yes. He then asked her if she wanted it decaf and she said no.
This is when it gets spicy.
He then responded that he SHOULD make it decaf because it’s bad for the baby. She responded that no, it’s fine because she has one per day. As he started to continue to hold his ground another woman standing by jumped in the conversation and asked him, “are you a man telling a woman what she should and shouldn’t do during a pregnancy?”
He continued on with this ridiculous conversation for about 5 more minutes.
The woman who jumped into the conversation responded, “I didn’t know they were doing OB-GYN training at Starbucks.” In case you were wondering, the American Pregnancy Association recommends no more than 200mg of caffeine per day. The coffee the woman was ordering had 150mg.
Just wow.
