It’s 4/20, a day as you probably know that has come to celebrate marijuana. Weed. Mary Jane. Gas. Grass. Pot. Ahh, there are just too many names to keep track of! LOL!
To honor this unofficial holiday, Far Out Magazine has put together its list of the 10 Greatest Songs About Marijuana… but I’m not so sure this list includes newer songs, like “Young, Wild, and Free” and DRAM’s “Broccoli”. And we definitelyyyy cannot forget Afroman’s infamous “Because I Got High”.
So, the first 10 songs are straight from Far Out Magazine’s list. But, after those, I’ve included 7 of my personal faves written about weed. That means this post makes one heck of a playlist for 4/20!!
Plus, here are some fun facts about marijuana use that you might be interested to know. According to a recent survey from Yahoo, about 52% of people ages 18 and older have tried marijuana. Of the people that have tried, over half of them (65%) are parents. But, 93% of those parents never use the drug in front of their kids.
Overall, 22% of people use marijuana and over half of those people are millennials. But, only 14% of people use marijuana regularly.
Among both users and nonusers, support for the legalization of marijuana is overwhelming with 83% of people surveyed. Now, if only we could get more legislation to match the overwhelming support for legalization…
