Spectrum Plans $6.5M Grant Distribution to Charlotte Nonprofits
This winter, Spectrum launches its grant program in Charlotte, distributing funds across three key areas from Dec. 10 through 12, 2024. The funding will be split between Community Center Assist, Digital Education, and employee-led community support initiatives and will be used to support essential services, help small businesses, and expand technology access to underserved communities.
Rahman Khan from Spectrum said, “Through our many donations this week, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work.”
Mayor Vi Lyles praised the initiative, saying, “This support from Spectrum is a fantastic investment in families in the Charlotte area. It will go a long way and I’m excited to see the great impact these programs provide to our community.”
Part of the funding supports organizations providing job training and essential services. Another portion helps small business owners with coaching and resources for growth. The third segment addresses technology gaps in the community providing computer access and online learning opportunities to those who previously lacked these resources.
The funding will be released in three phases. Community Center Assist starts first, followed by Digital Education grants, with employee-selected community support projects completing the distribution. This initiative builds upon successful community work throughout North Carolina. Previous support has helped stock food banks, create jobs, and develop digital literacy across the state.
