Stylists to the Stars Help Rebuild LA Wildfire Victims’ Wardrobes
In a unique and heartwarming initiative spearheaded by Elizabeth Stewart and Jordan Grossman, founders of the nonprofit Chic Relief, and other stylists behind the wardrobes of Hollywood’s biggest stars are now offering their talents toward rebuilding the wardrobes of those affected by the LA wildfire.
While they typically help curate outfits for A-list celebrities, these stylists are now offering their expertise, resources and connections with fashion brands to support LA wildfire victims who lost everything.
How the Stylists are Helping Victims of the LA Wildfire
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stewart and Grossman had the idea when they were packing up items for close friends who lost their homes. Stewart said, “And we thought, ‘You know what? We think we can do this for a lot more people!’”
Aside from them, other stylists—including Jeanne Yang, whose famous clientele includes Taika Waititi and Keanu Reeves; Chris Horan, who styles Charli XCX and Christina Aguilera; Nina Dobrev’s stylist, Lauren Jeworski; Jamie Mizrahi, stylist to Adele and Jennifer Lawrence; and Wendi & Nicole, who style Miles Teller, Nicholas Hoult, and Seth Rogen—all joined the relief efforts to help Los Angelenos.
Chic Relief shared that some might think it’s just clothes, but for those who lost everything, receiving items that could help them slowly rebuild not just their closets, but also their lives, is a big deal.
Altadena Girls
It’s not just celebrity stylists who have exerted efforts to help. A fourteen-year-old girl named Avery Colvert started Altadena Girls to help her friends who lost their homes. Colvert posted on the Altadena Girls Instagram account, “When disaster strikes, people only focus on basic survival needs. But for teenage girls who have lost everything, feeling like ourselves again is also really important for our #mentalhealth. Things like basic #hygiene products to the #makeup we wear every day help us feel normal in a time when everything else feels chaotic. I want to help other teen girls in my community rebuild their sense of identity and self-confidence during this difficult time.”
CBS News reported that Paris Hilton and Charli XCX reposted the account. Brands have also been reaching out to Colvert to donate. Per People, Meghan Markle also donated new clothing, and beauty products and personally brought lunch for all the volunteers and spent time helping however she could.
In a post shared by Altadena Girls’ Instagram account, they thanked Harry and Megan’s foundation, “We are official! We can now accept donations directly to our organization and make sure that all of these funds get RIGHT to the community where it’s needed! So many of you have set up your own Venmos and stuff to gather money for us and we are so grateful. A special thanks to The Archewell Foundation for your support!”
