Couple In North Carolina Turns Disappointment Into Charitable Act After Helene Cancels Wedding
Every day since the horrible storm turned people’s lives upside down, we read about communities coming together to help each other. And, one such example happens as a North Carolina couple donates wedding food to Helene victims after the storm canceled their event.
North Carolina Couple Donates Wedding Food
According to WGHP, the couple in Greensboro had their wedding planned to take place in Independence, Virginia last weekend. But, the storm had other plans. The scheduled ‘The Chickpea’ food truck could not make its way to the property due to the storm and poor road conditions. So, the North Carolina couple donates wedding food so the community could have warm meals in the wake of the awful storm.
The truck set up at a Food City parking lot in Virginia so people in need of a meal could come out and be served. And, the crowd that showed up was so large they even ran out of meals. But, at least, some folks were fed. And, the food didn’t go to waste.
Some of those who showed up for the food had stories of terrible things they endured from Helene. “A lot of them were without power. One of them…had a tree fall on her house…It was a mess,” according to the groom.
And, now, the couple has rescheduled their wedding for December. So, hopefully they will have that dream wedding they planned. But, in the meantime, they turned others tough times into something a little brighter.
It’s so nice to see how folks come together to help neighbors and even strangers. Because, at the end of the day, we’re all neighbors whether we know it or not. So, we wish them the best as this North Carolina couple donates wedding food to help those in need. Stay strong NC. We’re with you all the way.
