Mecklenburg County Pumpkin Patch Named #1 In The U.S. Just Outside Of A Major City
Fall is here, though the weather hasn’t quite felt like it lately. But that means it’s time for all the fun fall activities. And one “must do” fall activity has to be visiting a pumpkin patch. Sure you can buy your pumpkins at the grocery store, but where’s the fun in that? And the good news? A Mecklenburg County pumpkin patch just received recognition as the nation’s best.
I’ll be honest, when I go buy pumpkins I don’t actually do it in the Charlotte area even though I live here. I spend most of my fall weekends in Raleigh for football games, so in recent years it’s actually become tradition to go to the State Farmers Market there for pumpkins. It’s not quite a “pumpkin patch” experience but still gives off the fall vibes.
But perhaps I need to start a new tradition this year and visit this Mecklenburg County pumpkin patch. Our friends at SIXT shared with a list where they identified Mecklenburg County as having one of the top pumpkin patches in the U.S.
Pumpkin patches on this list “offer the best value and a wide range of activities”. They are all located just outside a major city- in this case Charlotte. So which Mecklenburg County pumpkin patch is it I know you’re ready to find out! It’s Hodges Family Farm.
Located about 11 minutes north of Charlotte, Hodges Family Farm has been in operation for more than 100 years.
This season the Hodges Family Farm is open daily through October 31st. During the week you can come pick pumpkins of “all shapes and sizes”. There are haybails for your kids to climb and jump on as well as farm animals to visit.
Offerings expand on the weekends (they do charge $5 for parking on weekends). There are hayrides for a minimal cost, the farm shop is open, and treats are available for purchase including kettle corn, funnel cakes, drinks, and more!
