How Much Will Parents in Charlotte Spend on School Supplies This Year?
School is almost back in session in Charlotte and the school supplies have already taken over the stores. You know what we’re talking about. When we first walk into Walmart and see the school supplies lists, the aisles near the front, the bins, everything you can imagine right there! But, how much do parents actually spend on school supplies?
Charlotte Back to School Spending
A recent survey finds that the average Charlotte family will spend over $750 on back-to-school shopping in 2024. The first day of school is less than 2 weeks away and parents are really gearing up for thousands of students to make their return to the classroom. The $750 on school supplies for 2024 in Charlotte is nearly 30% higher than the national average.
But, how is that $750 broken down? It states that families are expected to spend hundreds on both clothes and school supplies for kids. There is nearly $300 on clothes, $200 on actual school supplies, and the rest is expected to go to extracurricular activities such as sports, clubs, etc. Those extracurricular activities can cost nearly $700 on average for a lot of families. Imagine those with multiple kids who all enjoy different activities as well.
Although back to school means summer is coming to an end, we can’t wait to see what the school year brings to all of the children in the community!
