Charlotte Douglas Airport Opens 2 Pedestrian Skybridges Wednesday
Good news for travelers going through the CLT Airport. Two new pedestrian skybridges at Charlotte Douglas International Airport will open this Wednesday. Travelers parking at the airport will be able to take advantage of the newest additions beginning Wednesday, July 31st.
Two pedestrian skybridges at Charlotte Douglas International Aiport will link the Hourly Deck and Terminal. open to passengers on Wednesday, July 31st. They are located on the fifth floor of the Hourly Deck and provide access to the third level in the lobby of the terminal.

The 2 bridges provide easy access to the terminals without walking through the roadways. In fact, crossing from the Hourly Deck will no longer be allowed. Additionally, the 146,000-square-foot glass canopy offers protection from the weather. This won’t impact passengers traveling on Airport and hotel shuttles, rideshares, or being curbside drop-offed or picked up.

In a press release distributed Monday, the Airport describes this as “a significant milestone for the Terminal Lobby Expansion project”.

“We are thrilled to mark another milestone in the Terminal Lobby Expansion project with the opening of the two skybridges,” said Chief Infrastructure Officer Jack Christine. The project is expected to be completed sometime during 2025.
There will be staff and signage to assist passengers with this new pedestrian traffic flow.
“Pedestrians will experience enhanced safety with efficient access to the terminal away from traffic and ensuring smoother vehicle traffic flow,” Officer Jack Christine says. These enhancements underscore our commitment to providing a first-class passenger experience.”
