Drake Bell Calls Out Fellow Actors For Supporting His Abuser
Following this week’s release of Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, Nickelodeon star Drake Bell has been calling out fellow actors for openly supporting his abuser, Brian Peck.
As we previously reported, Peck was the dialogue coach who was arrested in August 2003 on eleven charges related to allegations that he’d sexually abused an unnamed child. The following year, Peck pleaded no contest to performing a lewd act with a 14- or 15-year-old and to oral copulation with a minor under 16. He was convicted of molesting a minor.
Peck worked on All That and The Amanda Show. Before Bell was cast in the starring series Drake & Josh in 2004, he was a regular cast member on Amanda Bynes’ show from 1999 to 2002.
Per The Independent, the documentary uncovered court documents from Peck’s trial which showed that several child actors had written letters of support for Peck, including Boy Meets World actors Rider Strong and Will Friedle. Ahead of the release of the series, Strong and Friedle said on their podcast that they had felt “shame” for being “misled” by the dialogue coach of being a victim in the case.
The Boy Meets World alumni said they went to court with him to support him “on the wrong side of everything, of course having no idea. It was filled with child actors, to the point that the victim’s mother turned around and said: ‘Look at all the famous people you brought with you, and it doesn’t change what you did to my kid.'” Notably, both Strong and Friedle were in their 20s when this was going on.
On Instagram this week, another former Nickelodeon star Alexis Nikolas hit out at Strong and Friedle for not apologising directly to Bell. The former Zoey 101 actress wrote: “YOU cared more about Hollywood, Pizzagate, and Boy Meets World than a child that was molested by someone YOU defended and never apologized to!”
Bell pointed out the actors’ ages and stated that Brian told Will specifically what he did. “Will was not manipulated. Brian admitted it to him, and he wrote the letter anyway,” he wrote. Then, Bell said Friedle worked with him years later and never said a word to him about it because they thought the letters they wrote were going to be made public.
It has also been noted how Bell’s co-star Josh Peck has not said anything about the case or the documentary but posted cringe TikToks instead. Though the two aren’t friends, it is noted by fans in the comments section that he has remained silent about Bell in the documentary. One fan slammed Peck in the comments section, writing: “Your silence speaks volumes bro. It’s really sad. [crying emoji].” Another wrote: “your silence is LOUD brother.” Meanwhile, one fan stated: “It’s giving Dan Schneider Core.”
