It just breaks my heart to see animals who are left unwanted. I'm even allergic to most animals, and it totally makes me sad. That said, it's such a heartwarming thing when a needy pet finds a new home. That's just what happened with an unwanted North Carolina dog, who is now very wanted and has a loving home.

The Wake County Animal Center, located in Raleigh, has plenty of adorable pets available to adopt. But, it's often over capacity, which makes it difficult to find these pets homes. It's even trickier when a pet with health problems needs to find a forever home. Sometimes, the shelter has to go to great lengths to find loving keepers for these pets.

Recently, an older dog with health issues, Elliott, was waiting for a forever home at the Wake County Animal Center. Now, he's more than 3,000 miles away at the loving California sanctuary called Lucky Ones Ranch. So, how did this happen? According to Myfox8.com, it starts with Alesja Daehnrich, who along with her husband founded The Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary in Rougemont, North Carolina, which usually houses farm animals. "I immediately noticed he was a senior and my heart just broke," Daehnrich told Myfox8.com. Since Elliott had other health issues, such as a tumor, she knew it would be hard to find him a home.

Since Daehnrich's dog and cat rescues are often at their max, nobody offered to take in Elliott. So, The Blind Spot shared his story on social media. Then, way out in California, Thao Le saw the post. "My heart just was like, ‘Oh my God, I have to have him. I we have to rescue him.'” Le told Myfox8.com. So, Le and Vince Ones of Lucky Ones Ranch brought him to their home. I truly think it's inspiring to hear stories such as this one so had to share.

There's something truly special about having a close relationship with your pet. They say a dog is "man's best friend," and it's totally accurate. I have friends and family who truly feel like their pets are a member of the family. Pets will be there for you through thick and thin. Pets are also know for being loyal, which can be a really good feeling in this world. So, what are the most popular dogs right now?

Danspetcare.com has a great article out that names the most popular dogs in the world right now. In it, they describe that special relationship that one has with their pet. "From hunting to sled-pulling to herding and protection, dogs have helped us survive and thrive in countless ways," they explain. "One of the most important roles dogs play in our lives is companionship."

So, what do you do if you're in the market for a new dog? Danspetcare.com has some good advice on how to pick the right breed. They explain that finding the right breed is a big part of that decision. So, ask yourself, do you want a delicate breed or a more meaty, masculine breed? Also, what's the purpose of you wanting a pet? Do you want a pet for protection, or are you looking for a small buddy for some companionship?

Either way, when you're in the market for a new pet, make sure to have lots of questions and ask the right people before settling on your little guy or gal. I remember one of my friends buying the cutest little puppy ever only to see it grow into a huge dog that was almost too big for her apartment. She loved him, but it was quite a surprise. Read on to discover the most popular dogs right now and some more stats. Find more via Danspetcare.com here
