Home Values Are Still Expected To Rise In This Major North Carolina City
One of my goals for this year is to quit paying rent and purchase a condo. That may be advantageous but with rent rising astronomically it needs to be done. So when I stumbled across Zillow’s Hottest Home Markets data for 2024 I had to give it a look. And good news for sellers but bad news for people like me- home values in Charlotte North Carolina are expected to continue to rise in 2024.
Charlotte ranked 7th on the top 10 list that Buffalo, NY topped. I have watched enough football games on TV in Buffalo in the winter that would deter this self-proclaimed snow lover from ever calling it home. But clearly, I’m in the minority! So what are the ranking based on? Zillow says factors such as “an analysis of forecast home value growth, recent housing market velocity and projected changes in the labor market, home construction activity and, a number of homeowner households.”
While Charlotte’s growth has remained steady at 1.2%, the Queen City did top the list last year and fell for 2024. So to sum that up, we are just as bad as we were but now other cities are worse! Perhaps surprisingly home values in other North Carolina cities aren’t keeping pace with Charlotte. Raleigh did not appear on this list so perhaps that may be a better spot if you have the flexibility to move within the state. Interestingly enough there were no west coast cities mentioned. Multiple cities in Ohio and Florida were included however. As well as Atlanta and Providence, RI. You can read the full study from Zillow here.
