The Hot Sauce Challenge I Have Always Wanted To Try

The hot sauce challenge I have always wanted to try has me questioning if I can even do it. Before my wife and I met, Texas Pete was a little…

AVERY ISLAND, LA – AUGUST 21: An oversized bottle of Tabasco hot sauce is displayed outside of the Tabasco hot sauce factory on the grounds of Avery Island on August 21, 2019 in Avery Island, Louisiana. Avery Island, a dome of salt surrounded by marshes near the southern Louisiana coast, is where the iconic Tabasco sauce has been made for the past 150 years. Like much of southern Louisiana, coastal marshland around Avery Island is disappearing at a rapid pace and the island is losing about 30 feet of surrounding protective marshland per year. As land gradually retreats from the area, the island becomes more susceptible to flooding from severe storms. The hot sauce challenge I have always wanted to try has me questioning if I can even do it.

Before my wife and I met, Texas Pete was a little too much to handle.  For the last 10 years, she's really opened up my palette for hot sauces.  I really appreciate the flavor they can provide when marinating meat or on a sandwich.

Doing the Hot Sauce Challenge

About a year ago, a friend sent me a box of sauces.  The company is called Truff and the box he sent consisted of spicy spaghetti sauce, hot sauce, and hotter sauce.  The spaghetti sauce was a spicy marinara sauce and very delicious.  The regular hot sauce drained the sinuses a little, but it was also very good.  Then there was the hotter sauce or White HOTTER Hot Sauce.  The first time I tried that I thought my face was going to melt off and I did not feel great the next day.  How could I handle a hot sauce challenge?

The challenge I'm referring to is a YouTube interview series from First We Feast known as Hot Ones.  Host and creator Sean Evans is in his 20th season and he interviews celebrities while eating hot wings with the guest.  The catch is that the sauces get hotter as they go along and the celeb's reaction is usually pretty hilarious.

You can actually purchase the lineup of sauces which is something I'd always wanted to do.  Recently, I saw Justin Timberlake post a bit of the aftermath after *NSYNC completed the most recent taping.  The boys were struggling and you can watch as they were trying to find relief from anything.  They ate ice cream, chugged water, ate Tums by the handful, and were doing shots of Pepto.  After really thinking about it, the hot sauce challenge I have always wanted to try is a HARD "No."  Watch their recovery below and their recently taped episode here!
