Say “I Do” To An NC Wedding, Research Says North Carolina Is One Of The Top States To Get Married In

Planning a wedding? There a seemingly a million decisions that have to be made when wedding planning. This includes the guest list, dress, food and drink, and a big one- where to have it. If you’re considering having your wedding in North Carolina, perhaps say “I Do” to that idea. North Carolina was ranked as one of the top 5 states to get married in based on research conducted by BetCarolina. To see which states are the best to host the wedding of your dreams, researchers at BetCarolina.com created an index “ranking each state based on various factors such as the average cost of a wedding, marriage/divorce rates, service availability, and weather.” 

The Top States To Get Married In

  2. Texas (63.9)
  3. Colorado (60.3)
  4. Florida (59.6)
  5. North Carolina (59.1)
  6. Michigan (58.0)
  7. Kansas (57.8)
  8. Ohio (57.5)
  9. Georgia (57.1)
  10. Hawaii (56.6)

The number in parentheses is the score BetColorado assigned to each state. North Carolina ranked 5th. They say that the “potential draw” of getting married here, is the “amount of money you could save”. Tell that to all my friends who’ve gotten married in North Carolina. I don’t think they found it affordable! BetCarolina says that the average cost of a North Carolina wedding is $23,280, the 2nd cheapest they found. The negatives they site include that we had the lowest availability of the top 5 states for wedding-related services. This means you may struggle to find vendors like florists and photographers.

Another fun fact, North Carolina played host to over 22,000 weddings in 2022. That’s a lot of “I Do’s”. In my opinion, the best thing about getting married in NC is the diversity of venue options you have. I’ve attended weddings on the coast right on the Inner Coastal Waterway and at Biltmore Estate in the heart of the North Carolina mountains. Or you could elect to get married on a farm or in the city. Perhaps at a winery or brewery. The options are endless. So if you’re considering having a destination wedding, maybe table that idea. Instead stay at home in North Carolina, one of the top states to get married in.

Here Are the Top Destinations for a Bachelor Party in North Carolina

If it’s one thing you can enjoy when it comes to wedding planning, it’s bachelor and bachelorette parties! The boys are always having a good time when it comes to a bachelor party.   • Charlotte

    Of course, Charlotte made this list! Why wouldn’t it, right? This is one of the largest cities in the state and offers so much fast-paced fun for you to enjoy together. Great craft beers, water activities, nightclubs, restaurants, and more! You can even catch a sports game with the guys and see some football, basketball, hockey, or baseball. Your options are endless indeed.

  • Raleigh

    If you are wondering where to go to Raleigh, North Carolina might be a great idea as well. Raleigh is a little unexpected. You can enjoy parks, breweries, strip clubs, bars, golf courses, and so much more! Yes, there are a lot of colleges in the area so if you’re young as well it might be more fun.

  • Asheville

    Asheville is one of the best locations for all of the beer drinkers. They have famous brewery tours that you can drink and have a great time with the crew. Plus there are some funky bars that can make the night a little bit more interesting. During the colder months may be a bit more snowy so you may want to head down during the summer months.

  • Cherokee

    Here is one location I have never been, but here it is on the list. Cherokee is about an hour from Asheville is your getaway into the mountains. You can enjoy mountain views and casino fun when in Cherokee. Fun fact, there are not any strip clubs but you can order strip clubs to your house rental if you wanted.

  • Outer Banks

    Want to celebrate on the beach? Head to the Outer Banks! Enjoy the beach and great seafood for a bachelor trip, perfect for the summer. I have been here in the winter and it is still beautiful but not everything is open so maybe you should head there in the summer. There are tons of restaurants, bars, hotels, and more.

  • Wilmington

    Head off to the coastal city of Wilmington and hang out with the boys. There is a boardwalk that is the top party spot for you to enjoy. Maybe you want to go fishing, lay out on the beach, eat great food, and take history tours there is a little bit of something for everyone.
