About 45 minutes ago my phone started blowing up, after about the 3rd message I was like maybe I should see what this is about. The first thing I read was a text from a friend saying are you at your apartment, there is a massive fire in South Park. So yes, that is where I live, and I've never Googled something so fast in my life. Immediately realized ok it's not my apartment complex, and then immediately started putting the address in maps to figure out where the fire was as well as what is going on.

Where Is The Fire?

If you are familiar with the South Park area the fire is located on Liberty Row Drive. If that doesn't ring a bell, it didn't for me, it's essentially right behind the buildings that house Ruth Chris and Zoes Kitchen. It's also right across the street from the Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat building.

Luckily this massive 4-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building that was under construction and not a building full of people. Charlotte Fire has dispersed all available resources to fight the blaze. An emergency alert went out telling Charlotte residents not to call 9-1-1 unless it is a true emergency. Many roads including portions of  Fairview, Park South Drive, and Sharon Road are closed for the foreseeable future. I'm glued to the WSOC-TV live stream right now, where they are reporting that one individual is stuck on a crane above the fire. Hopefully, they can find a way to rescue him ASAP.

That is priority one as well as containing the blaze. This was certainly startling news to get and still has me rattled. I hope and pray this is contained and fully extinguished soon. And also don't think I'm getting back to my apartment. If you are in the area, try to get as far away from the massive fire that is continuously burning in South Park this morning. We will continue to update you as more details become available, right now Charlotte Fire's priority is not providing updates it's controlling the flames.
