UK Employers Are Trying To Get Gen Z Workers With “Early Finish Fridays”
British employers are trying a new way to recruit and retrain Gen Z workers – “early finish Fridays.” According to the online jobs portal Adzuna there were 1,426 open job advertisements on their site last month that had it advertised. The same month five years early there were only 583 listings that offered it.
“Early finish Fridays” is appearing mostly at jobs targeted for junior staff, with salaries for these positions being between £20,000 (about $25,000) and £40,000 a year (about $49,600). The perk was found most commonly in engineering, sales, IT, and graduate positions. The companies that are offering this include both mid-to-large-scale companies.
The co-founder of Adzuna, Andrew Hunter, isn’t surprised by this shift. He says that employees are now “demanding more” from their employers or potential employers than they did before the pandemic. “Early finish Fridays” gives off the impression that the company’s flexible and that it cares about the well-being of their employees, which are “two factors of utmost importance in today’s job market.”
