Priyanka Chopra: Freezing Her Eggs Gave ‘Freedom’ To Focus On Herself
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is living her life with no regrets. The 40-year-old actress recently opened up about how she “felt such freedom” when she froze her eggs. In a new interview this week, Chopra found her decision a way to “continue on an ambitious warpath.”
Freezing her eggs in her early 30s, she listed a number of reasons for preparing herself in this way. “I wanted to get to a certain place in my career,” she shared. “I also hadn’t met the person I wanted to have children with or I didn’t see that. That’s anxiety-inducing. [I was] 35, and my mom’s an OB-GYN who’s like, ’36 — Just do it.'”
She isn’t one to gatekeep this advice, as she tells everyone to freeze their eggs if they can afford it. “My mom had said [to do it as many times as you need] to me, and I did do it for myself as well,” she continued. Due to its expensive price tag, Chopra advises those who know they want children to save up for the procedure. She adds, “Do it anytime, and you can do it multiple times.”

There is no escaping a woman’s biological clock. “It gets so much harder to get pregnant after 35 and to carry to term and all of that,” Priyanka says. “Especially with women that have been working all their lives.” However, she does credit how far science has come. She notes that by freezing your eggs, “you’re taking the power from your biological clock. And you can work until however you want. Your eggs will still be the same age as when you froze them.”
Wary of starting a relationship with her now-husband, Nick Jonas, Chopra was worried that they wouldn’t have the same views on having a family. Despite those worries due to Nick being her junior by 10 years, the couple tied the knot in 2018. Four years later, they welcomed Malti Marie via surrogate, now 14 months. The baby girl spent her first 100-plus days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), making it home just in time for Mother’s Day. “Our baby is truly a bada–,” the Jonas Brothers musician wrote on Instagram. “Our next chapter begins now.”
