“Grey’s,” “The Rookie” Among Shows Hitting The Covid Pause Button
“Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Rookie,” and “Station 19” have postponed their 2022 shooting schedules as the highly contagious omicron variant continues to run rampant. According to US Weekly, the decision comes from ABC Signature Studio. Production were set to resume on January 10, but now shooting has been delayed to January 12. Not sure what two days of a delay does, but that’s where we are.
The delay shouldn’t impact the airing schedule. Season 18 of Grey’s should still come back to ABC on Thursday, February 24. Season 5 of “Station 19” is expected to come back the same day as the two will have one of their “crossover” episodes. Season 4 of “The Rookie” already returned this past weekend, on January 2.
This delay does come just one month after Ellen Pompeo shared that she’s the only who thinks that “Grey’s Anatomy” is done, She said it’s because she’s concerns about “what story are we going to telling.” Renewal talks for a season 19 are reportedly underway according to Deadline but nothing has been confirmed yet.
