Kirsten Dunst Says Kissing Brad Pitt as a Kid Was ‘Very Weird’
In a new video, Kirsten Dunst reflected on her career, going back to her breakthrough role in 1994’s Interview With the Vampire. In that film, she kissed Brad Pitt… but she was only 11 at the time.
Dunst played the child vampire Claudia in the Neil Jordan film. As part of her role, she had to kiss Pitt, who was 30 at the time. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Dunst, now 39, said she only complained on the set twice: The first time was when she had to film a scene in which she bit the neck of a woman, whom she recalls was “sweating.” The second was her kiss with Pitt.
“That was the worst thing I did, and also having obviously to kiss Brad Pitt at that point,” Dunst said. “I was a little girl and he was like a brother to me and it was very weird. Even though it was a peck, I was very not into it.”
She continued: “Other than that I was treated like a total princess on that set.”
Following the male-dominated cast of Interview With the Vampire, Dunst appeared in women-led film Little Women that same year alongside Claire Danes and Winona Ryder, directed by Gillian Armstrong. “It couldn’t be more polar opposite to the Interview With the Vampire. It was great for a young girl — I just had the best time. working with all of those women.”
Dunst will next be seen in Jane Campion film The Power of the Dog, in theaters now and on Netflix December 1.
